Toronto day and night

Toronto day and night, originally uploaded by Melsky.

Day three and I'm still here. If I didn't have my goal to put something in my store and post every day I'd be in bed now. So it's good to have goals.

This is a painting I did last April. I was living in Toronto at the time and hoping to get more of my work into local stores and galleries. That never happened. Toronto was just a bad place for me artistically. It was a hard time in my life. I'm doing a lot better as an artist in Syracuse in terms of meeting people in arts organizations and galleries and such. Plus I have a much better space for my art. It's a smaller space than my Toronto studio but a better layout, and since this house has so much storage space I don't have to try to cram a lot of stuff in here. It has nice big windows too.

I do miss a lot of stuff about Toronto, like the transit system! I miss being able to walk to so much stuff, all the restaurants, the exciting feeling of being in a big city.

Anyway, back to the painting, it's here:

Toronto Day and Night Painting

It's actually two paintings! I think they would look really cute side by side.

Tomorrow I have goals, besides putting up something else on Etsy and writing about it in my blog, I am going to clean up my studio and send out some cards I made.

We're moving to NY

Me at Niagra Falls, originally uploaded by Melsky.

So much has happened. I feel bad for not keeping up with this blog more. Dave had interviews in Albany and Syracuse, and he has an offer from Syracuse and will probably be getting one from Albany in the middle of next week. So we are going to be moving to NY for sure.

I have a lot to do. We have our current place until the end of August. At first I wasn't going to take anything that wouldn't fit in our car, but now we have decided to rent a van and take our bed, my green cabinet, some shelves and a bunch of other stuff. I'm selling our couch and this table:

Table Top Pattern

because the couch is uncomfortable, we need one that you can lay on and not just a loveseat and the table I am just sick of looking at. I painted it three years ago and we have been eating on it every night.

I'll miss Toronto tap water. Toronto has great tasting tap water.

At first I was very nervous about leaving but now I feel better about it.

Cactus and the library

Beautiful Desert Day

It's 8x10 on canvas, price $35.00.

Available at Melsky Art Store

Now I'm off to the library. One of the things I love about Toronto is it has a great public library system. You can search for books online and order them and they will ship them to the library of your choice.

Missing: My pothead son Brendan

Missing: My pothead son Brendan
Originally uploaded by Melsky.

I saw this on a pole in the annex. The text reads:

2 all my sweet neighbors in The Annex, please don't be alarmed - Brendan's just an irresponsible kid who does this sort of thing all the time (rest assured, he's done this before!) Anyway, on Satureday he went to a house party at Jacob's house. It's Sunday afternoon right now and he still hasn't called home to let me know he's ok, and what his plan is, as we promised before he took off. If anyone knowz Jacob's telephone number, pleeze send me e-letter at my website.

(p.s. Brendan, if you're reading this, I'm sorry to embarrass u, but you drove me to it with your irresponsibility. To any of Bren's neighborhood pals reading this, please mind your own beezwax!! This is between a diztressed father and his son. Thanx!)

Anti drunk driving storefront

Anti drunk driving storefront
Originally uploaded by Melsky.

This is a very odd building I passed on the streetcar the other day. It reads:
Drunk drivers are Lousy Lovers
Sober Drivers "Puck" much better

Drunk drivers
kiss and neck
wet and sloppy

Sober Drivers do not
Slobber and drool

The building looks like a former convienience store, now perhaps someone's house. It's not a store anymore.
