Having a Pint

Having a Pint, originally uploaded by Melsky.

This was last weekend. Now I'm too busy working at Dave's office and packing stuff at home and doing last minute things. We move in less than a week, though Dave will be back here so we don't have to be totally final. It's going to be hectic.

This photo made me happy because I can see the muscle tone in my forearm.

I didn't get nearly enough done today

I could start just about every blog entry with that. I didn't get enough done today, ever, times ten.

I'm gong to try to spend less time on the internet. I need one of those internet timers like people get for their kids. Do they have such a thing? They should. I need to spend time with the computer off. I am neglecting my painting.

I did at least go to the gym today!

That was yesterday's entry. I forgot to post it. I went to the gym again today. I just got back from helping Dave copy stuff at work. I'm tired. I did no packing or painting today. Just office work and the gym. Tomorrow I think I start on the packing seriously. I keep saying that but sooner or later I will really have to do it. We got the expenses for the van approved from Dave's new work, so that was kind of a relief. I'm rambling.

Toronto General Hospital

Lately I've been into making grainy black and white versions of my photos, the way my photos used to look when I was a photography student at San Francisco City College in 1988.

Sorry for not responding to comments

I thought I had it set up so I get comments emailed to me on this blog, like I do on my Toronto Photos blog, but I didn't. I just thought no one ever commented! Today when I was going through some old posts I realized that a bunch of people had sent me comments, some of them on more than one post. So thanks for reading and I will be responding to them in the future.

Right now I'm putting off going to the gym, I am all dressed and everything but that's probably why I am reading old posts on my journal instead of actually being at the gym.

It's exactly two weeks until moving day. We found a great house in Syracuse and someone who lives up the street from it wrote me a nice note because they saw my posting on someone else's blog.

The house is three bedrooms and two bathrooms with a washer/dryer hookup, a two car garage that used to be a stable and it has a fireplace and wood floors and a screened porch in the back. I didn't take any photos of it while I was there, but there will be many, many photos in about two weeks.

I can paint the walls different colors, which is great. We hardly have any furniture and won't have much for a while. I sold my painted table, chairs and couch to the new people who will move into this place. I'm going to be looking on craigslist and at thrift and lower price antique stores. My goal is to have all wood furniture and no pressboard ikea type stuff. There's no ikea in syracuse!

Syracuse on the night of the Jazz Festival

My goal is to paint some today. I haven't packed up my paints yet because I might feel like painting and we are not moving for two weeks. But it's been so hot it's hard to think about painting.

We're moving to NY

Me at Niagra Falls, originally uploaded by Melsky.

So much has happened. I feel bad for not keeping up with this blog more. Dave had interviews in Albany and Syracuse, and he has an offer from Syracuse and will probably be getting one from Albany in the middle of next week. So we are going to be moving to NY for sure.

I have a lot to do. We have our current place until the end of August. At first I wasn't going to take anything that wouldn't fit in our car, but now we have decided to rent a van and take our bed, my green cabinet, some shelves and a bunch of other stuff. I'm selling our couch and this table:

Table Top Pattern

because the couch is uncomfortable, we need one that you can lay on and not just a loveseat and the table I am just sick of looking at. I painted it three years ago and we have been eating on it every night.

I'll miss Toronto tap water. Toronto has great tasting tap water.

At first I was very nervous about leaving but now I feel better about it.

I've got to paint more

Where does the day go? I have all these painting projects that I have to finish before I start new ones, and I'm not finishing them. I need to carve out some time where I just sit down and paint.

We are giving our notice on July 1 for 60 days. I have a very bad feeling that I am going to be living somewhere I like a lot less than this. I'm very worried. I hope I can keep up with my walking and gym where ever we go. It's been so nice to see success in that area.

Today I went to the gym, then I went to mail my package and it was pouring, but I walked to the post office anyway, and to the butcher, and to the bulk foods store. I love living in a walking neighborhood.

I also painted a shirt today. The shirt had a huge grease spot on it so I painted a sunflower over it. I'll put a photo of that tomorrow.

The painting is one from a long time ago, a couple of years. I painted it while I was living in the desert. For some reason it looks a little odd on the photo, perhaps it is the way it was shrunk. But it really reminds me I need to start painting again on a regular basis. If you click on it you can see a larger image that looks better. Such a simple painting. I'm working on another painting that is a lot of patterns and it doesn't look that great. But who knows, I bet that it will look much better once it's done. If it ever is.

Another thing, I'm working on listing a bunch of beaded jewelry I have made.

I'm so nervous about moving.
